The ILIL group led by Leo Gizzi at
INO-CNR (Pisa) is engaged in experimental research on intense and
ultraintense laser-plasma interaction, laser-induced instabilities,
atomic physics of highly-ionised plasmas, ultrashort X-ray emission and
acceleration of charged particles. The group originally pioneered
laser-plasma acceleration from exploding-foil plasmas and is currently
developing a high dose LPA source for all-optical Compton scattering
source. The ILIL lab is now undergoing a major laser and laboratory
upgrade in the context of the Italian Network on Extreme Light
Infrastructure. |

The group of plasma and accelerator physics at SBAI department, "La Sapienza" University of Rome, is currently involved on plasma wakefield acceleration schemes. The group is mainly focused on numerical simulations both with Particle in Cell (PIC) codes as well as reduced hybrid kinetic-fluid codes. The group is running state of the art codes as well as developing new specific tools necessary to speed up calculation, clarifying new underlying physics and help defining new possible stable schemes. The groups is working side to side with the experimental facility Sparc_Lab at INFN-Frascati. |
