The Key Laboratory for Laser Plasmas (Ministry of Education) is the important base for laser plasmas research and education in China. The laboratory has offered mainly four academic programs which are theory and numerical simulation of the laser plasma physics, physical experiment of the laser plasma physics, high field laser technology, micro-fabrication and target fabrication. The lab currently owns a 200TW 10Hz laser and a kHz TW laser systems. Laser plasma based wakefield acceleration and radiation, laser solid interaction based ion acceleration are two main topics for the lab in recent years. |

The group lead by Naiyan Wang at HPELL studies the interaction of ultra-shrot and ultra-intense laser Beams with Plasmas, involving experimental and theoretical activities related to laser driven ion acceleration in plasmas, laser driven electron acceleration in plasmas and photon-nuclear physics. The group studies the relativistic models to describe the time dependent energetic proton acceleration and predicts the uplimit of the maximum proton energy. The group is actively involved in the project of a photon-nuclear physics and quantum electrodynamics induced by ultra-short and ultra-intense laser beams.
