Fundamental objectives and applications

  • Electro-thermal characterization and simulation of electrical discharge (Corona, streamer, spark and DBD at atmospheric pressure)
  • Nanoparticle production by physical and/or reactive nucleation
  • Thermo-stable TiO2 coating of nanopart. by post-DBD PE-CVD of gaseous precursors
  • (Bio)-functional films deposition by post-DBD polymerisation of liquid precursors
  • Aerosol charging for aerosol size and concentration measurement

Research topics

The “Plasma-based aerosol processes” team (Aerosol-Assisted Plasma Processes) focuses on electrical discharges at atmospheric pressure for the production and the processing of suspended particles in gases. We propose plasma processes to produce, modify and measure solid or liquid particles suspended in gases (aerosol). At the interface of plasma and aerosol sciences, these results lead to applications in different domains, such as Environment (aerosol size and concentration measurement) and Materials (powder production and coatings for nanomaterials)
