4th International Workshop on Plasma for Cancer Treatment


iwpct-2017-logo.png The 4th International Workshop on Plasma for Cancer Treatment (IWPCT-2017) will be held at the Institut Curie in Paris on March 27–28 2017.

The intent of the Workshop is to bring together researchers active in the field of Plasma Medicine from all over the world to report on and discuss recent progress in understanding and controlling the effects of plasmas on cancer. There will be 18 invited talks, some contributed oral presentations and two poster sessions over two days.





EU funds design study for European plasma accelerator


Three million euros for European Plasma Research Accelerator with eXcellence In Applications (EuPRAXIA) project.

eupraxia-eu-proj-logo.png The European Union supports the development of a novel plasma particle accelerator with three million euros from the Horizon2020 program. The EU project EuPRAXIA (European Plasma Research Accelerator with eXcellence In Applications) will produce a design study for a European plasma research accelerator focussing on applications of the new technology.
Plasma acceleration promises to shrink costs and size of particle accelerators for science, medical applications and industry significantly.

The Laboratoire de Physique des Gaz et des Plasmas is strongly involved in the EuPRAXIA project. In addition to contribute to the definition of common parameters and the layout of the facility through simulations, the LPGP will coordinate the design of high-gradient laser plasma accelerator structures.

Master M2 Grands Instruments

Le master Grands Instruments vient d'ouvrir avec une première promotion de 16 étudiants. Le LPGP est un laboratoire référent pour cette formation de Paris Saclay, seul nouveau diplôme dans la mention de physique, il accueille une partie des cours et proposera des enseignements et des travaux pratiques sur la plate-forme LASERIX. Cette formation a pour but de former des étudiants intéressés aux domaines de la physique instrumentale couvrant les accélérateurs, les lasers de puissance et les plasmas avec un fort couplage avec les grandes installations locales et nationales.

LASERIX

LASERIX reprend du service après son déménagement dans les locaux du LAL. Elle accueillera ses premiers utilisateurs à l'automne sur une source XUV pour une expérience pompe-sonde. La première démonstration du couplage entre LASERIX et le photo-injecteur PHIL a été faite cet été: un faisceau d'électrons issu de la photocathode de PHIL, irradiée par laser femtoseconde, a été observé pour la première fois. Cela ouvre la possibilité de différentes expériences couplant laser de puissance et accélérateur, cette configuration est unique en France.
